How to Cut Costs in Any Contracting Business

With winter about to wrap up, if you’re a contractor you would love to know how to cut down on costs. Well we’ve been helping contractors profit more for the last 3 years and have added over 7 figures of profits to them since. Cutting costs is a massive contributor to that number. So here are three strategies that we put in every time we need to cut costs. 

The first strategy is to reduce drive time. Not only is fuel expensive but the people driving your vehicles are even more expensive. Look to optimize your routing to reduce drive time. Most field management softwares do have automatic route optimization features, so if yours has a feature like this, use it! You can also use the GPS all the time to make sure you don’t get stuck in traffic or any other situations in which you can lose time.

Secondly is keeping track of inventory. Don’t buy parts you already have. If you keep really good track of your inventory you don’t need to re-buy parts you forgot you already have and you can start to leverage your inventory space for better pricing with your vendors. Additionally, if you’re having to buy parts multiple times, that’s just more drive time and wasted time at the supply house, so be sure to keep good track of what you have but also what you don’t have so you can get the best deals possible on that.

Finally, cut out bad marketing agencies. We’ve seen plenty of business owners get scammed by marketing agencies that have ridiculous pricing, contracts, and an underwhelming service. So if you see that your marketing agency hasn’t brought in any results or the results they said they would and you’ve already been working with them for more than 6 months, it’s time to cut them out.
